- What changed from version 1.1
1. Who we are and these Terms
Sagora is a social app where people share journeys and the steps along them, react, reply, join each other's journeys, connect and chat.
These Terms are the agreement between you and the people who run Sagora. Today that is Shourya Bordia (10, Chopra Bhawan, Rudra Vihar, Udaipur, Rajasthan) and Rammith K.R. (49-A, Amrit Nagar, Bedla Road, Badgaon (post), Udaipur, Rajasthan), India, two individuals working together as partners ("Sagora", "we", "us"). Contact: support@sagora.live.
You accept these Terms when you tick the box "I agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, and I've read the Data Notice" and tap "Agree & Create Account". If you use Continue with Google, you see the same box once before your account is made. The box is never ticked for you. We record the versions you accepted, the time, your phone type and the app version. If you do not agree, do not create an account.
These Terms are read with our Privacy Policy and Data Notice.
2. Who can use Sagora
- You must be at least 16. We ask for your date of birth to check this. If you are under 16 we do not create the account. If we later learn you are under 16, we will close your account and delete your data.
- If you are 16 or 17, please read these Terms with a parent or guardian.
- Sagora is offered to people in India. If you use it from another country, you are responsible for following your local law, and we may restrict access.
- You must not have been removed from Sagora before, unless we agreed in writing to let you back.
Indian law will require a parent's verifiable consent for users under 18 from May 2027. Before then we will either add that step or make Sagora 18 and over, and tell users aged 16 or 17 at least 60 days before.
3. Your account
- You can sign up with an email address and a password, or with Continue with Google. Email sign-up works with Gmail, iCloud and Outlook addresses. A password needs at least 10 characters with at least one letter and one number.
- You then give your date of birth, a username and your country. A profile photo is optional.
- Give accurate information. Pick a username that does not pretend to be someone else.
- One account per person. Do not sell, share or hand over your account.
- Keep your password secret. You are responsible for what happens under your account. If you think someone else has used it, change your password (Settings, Account) or reset it with the code we email you, and tell us. A reset signs you out on every device.
4. What Sagora does
- Journeys and steps. A journey starts with a challenge, a moment, a thought or an achievement. You and others add steps: more of those, or an attempt with its outcome. A step can hold words, photos, a video or a voice note.
- Joining. Others can join your journey by adding their own steps, if your settings allow it. You choose for each step who can see it (Public, Connections, Only me), who can join, whether you approve each join, and whether replies are on.
- Reactions and discussion rooms. People can react to steps and talk in a step's room or a journey's contributors' room. Rooms are not end-to-end encrypted.
- Connections. On a public account, Connect connects at once. On a private account, it sends a request you accept or decline.
- Messages. Direct chats, groups and "Message yourself", end-to-end encrypted. A person you are not connected with gets your first message as a request.
- Explore and search. Trending and popular journeys, a few platform numbers, and search for people, journeys and steps.
- Notifications. In the app, and as push notifications if you allow them.
- Without an account, people can look at public journeys, steps, rooms and profiles, but cannot post or interact.
We may change, add or remove features.
5. Your content
"Content" means anything you post or send: steps, words, photos, videos, voice notes, room messages, chat messages, your profile details, photo and banner.
You keep ownership of your content, and you are responsible for it. You promise that:
- you own it or have permission to post it;
- it does not break the law or anyone's rights;
- it does not contain other people's private information, or passwords, keys or other secrets.
Steps you add to someone else's journey stay yours and show on your profile. Steps others add to your journey stay theirs. The owner of a journey, or the author of the step before yours, can remove your step from that journey; it then goes back to your drafts and you are told. The author of a step can remove any message in that step's room.
A step set to Public can be seen by anyone, including people without a Sagora account, and so can its room. Your name, username, profile photo, banner and profile counts can be seen by anyone who opens your profile, even if your account is private. Do not put details in public posts that you would not want everyone to see.
6. The permission you give us
You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to host, store, copy, resize, reformat, display and deliver your content to the people allowed to see it, as part of running Sagora; to keep the security and cache copies the service needs; and to review it to keep Sagora safe and meet the law. This is the only permission these Terms give us over your content.
The permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies that expire on their own as described in the Privacy Policy (for example cached copies, within 7 days) and copies the law requires us to keep.
7. Rules
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behaviour. You must not:
- post or share child sexual abuse or exploitation material, or anything that sexualises a person under 18, including drawn, edited or AI-made material;
- post nudity, pornography or sexual solicitation, or share intimate images of anyone without their consent;
- threaten, harass, bully, stalk or attack people for who they are; encourage violence, terrorism, suicide or self-harm;
- post other people's private information, or passwords, keys or other secrets;
- post anything that infringes someone's copyright, trade mark or other rights;
- post information you know is false or misleading, or that misstates where a message comes from;
- post anything that threatens the unity, integrity, defence or security of India, friendly relations with other countries or public order, or that is otherwise illegal;
- post malware, scams or spam, or sell illegal goods or services;
- pretend to be someone else, or make fake accounts;
- copy Sagora content in bulk, scrape or harvest it by automated means, or reverse engineer, overload or get around the security of the app or our server.
8. Reporting, blocking and moderation
- You can report any step, account or message in the app. Reasons: spam, harassment, hate, sexual content, child safety, violence, self-harm, other. You can add a note. You can send up to 20 reports a day.
- You can block anyone. Blocking ends your connection and hides your steps from each other.
- Reports are reviewed by people on our team, child-safety reports first. Reports of intimate images of a person, or of someone pretending to be a person, are dealt with within 2 hours. Other reports of content that breaks these Terms are dealt with within 36 hours. We act on a valid court order or government notice within 3 hours, as the Information Technology Rules, 2021 (as amended in February 2026) require.
- Where content or an account breaks these Terms we may remove the content, warn, restrict or suspend the account, or remove it. Repeat offenders are removed. Where the law requires, or someone is in serious danger, we report to the authorities. Child sexual abuse material is reported to the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal and to NCMEC.
- Chats are end-to-end encrypted, so we cannot read or scan them. If you report a chat message, your phone sends us its text so we can review it. We cannot check photos and files in chats against lists of known abuse images; reported messages are still reviewed and acted on.
- If you think we got a decision wrong, write to support@sagora.live and we will look again.
In an emergency, contact local emergency services first. In India, call 112.
9. Reminder every three months
At least every three months we will remind you, in the app or by email, that:
- if you break these Terms or the Privacy Policy we may suspend or end your account at once and remove or block content;
- if you post something illegal you may face a penalty or punishment under the Information Technology Act, 2000 or other law; and
- offences we must report, such as those under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 or the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, are reported to the authorities.
10. Copyright complaints
If you think something on Sagora infringes your copyright, write to support@sagora.live (subject "Copyright") with the work, where it appears on Sagora, your details and a statement that you own it or act for the owner. We will act on a valid complaint, which may include removing the content.
11. Privacy
How we handle personal data is in the Privacy Policy and the Data Notice.
12. Outside services
Sagora relies on outside providers for hosting, the database and sign-in, media storage, email and push notifications (listed in the Privacy Policy). We are not responsible for their outages or actions beyond our reasonable control. Continue with Google is also governed by Google's own terms.
13. Our property
The app, the Sagora name and logo, the design and the code belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the app under these Terms. Some parts of the app use open-source software under its own licence. If you send us feedback, we may use it without owing you anything.
14. Ending your account
- You can delete your account at any time in the app (Settings, Account, Delete account), or by emailing support@sagora.live from the address on your account.
- When you confirm, you are signed out and the account can no longer be used. You cannot undo this in the app. Your profile and posts stay where they are for 14 days, then the account is erased as the Privacy Policy describes.
- We can suspend or end your account for breaking these Terms, for safety or legal reasons, or if we shut Sagora down (with notice where we can).
- When your account ends, your right to use Sagora ends. Clauses that by their nature continue, such as 16 to 18, survive.
15. Disclaimers
Sagora is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or free of errors.
Content is written by users. It is not professional advice (medical, legal, financial, safety or any other). What someone says worked for them may not work for you, or may be unsafe. Ask a qualified person before acting on it where a mistake could hurt you or someone else. We do not check anyone's identity or expertise, and we do not check posts before they appear.
16. Limit of liability
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or loss of profit, data or goodwill. Our total liability to you for all claims about Sagora is limited to Rs 10,000. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or wilful misconduct, or for anything the law does not allow us to limit. Nothing takes away your rights under consumer law.
17. Your responsibility for claims
If someone makes a claim against us because you posted something that breaks clause 5 or 7, you will cover our reasonable losses from that claim, except where we caused them. This clause does not apply to users under 18.
18. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Please first raise any complaint with our Grievance Officer (clause 21). If it is not resolved, the courts at Udaipur, Rajasthan, India (after the move in clause 19, the courts of the city of the Company's registered office) alone have jurisdiction, unless a mandatory law lets you go to a court or consumer commission where you live.
19. Changes, and change of operator
Changes to these Terms. For a change that is not material, we will tell you in the app at least 30 days before it applies; if you keep using Sagora, you accept it. For a material change we will tell you in the app and by email at least 30 days before it applies and ask you to agree. If you do not agree, you can delete your account.
Company takeover. We plan to move Sagora to a private limited company that we will register in India (the "Company"). We will tell you in the app and by email at least 30 days before, and name the Company. On the transfer date the Company takes over these Terms, your account and your data on the same terms and becomes "we". Your rights do not shrink because of the transfer. The first time you open Sagora after that date we will ask you to confirm you are happy to continue. You may delete your account before or after the transfer.
20. General
These Terms, with the Privacy Policy and Data Notice, are the whole agreement between you and us about Sagora. If a part is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not given it up. We may transfer these Terms only to the Company as set out in clause 19, or to a later buyer of the business on the same conditions (advance notice, the same terms, and your right to delete your account first). You may not transfer yours. We may give notices in the app or by email.
